Four Napier Wineries You Can Bike To From Taradale

It’s no secret that Hawke’s Bay is famous for wine, and the area has become a grand destination for wine tourism.  We are lucky to have some fantastic Napier wineries near our Taradale motel – within 1.5-10 kilometres.  The closest are in walking distance (for those who like to exercise), or you could look at hiring bikes for the day and making a real excursion out of it. Feel free to ask us at time of booking for recommended bike rentals if that’s what you choose to do. Driving is of course an option, though someone will have to miss out on tasting!

4 Napier Wineries Within 10 km of Colonial Lodge Taradale Motel

Church Road. Located just 1.6 km from our Taradale motel Church Road is a great place to start your wine tour. The winery is one of the oldest in Hawke’s Bay – founded in 1897 and totally renovated in 1989. The renovation is incredible!

Mission Estate. A reasonably short walk from Church Road, the Mission is 2.5 km from us. The oldest winery in New Zealand with stunning grounds, a fantastic restaurant and great wine in a historic setting.

Moana Park. Moana Park are a boutique producer with a focus on minimal intervention and low allergy wines. They make vegan wines – if you ever wondered how wine could not be vegan, these are the people to ask. Situated in scenic Puketapu just 5.5 km from us. The bike trail that follows nearby the river is an easy flat ride and great fun for all.

Crossroads. Located 10 km from us, Crossroads is the longest trip of the Napier wineries in our top 4. It is well worth the trip with a long heritage of award-winning wines. Make sure to ask about “Talisman” – their secret blend.

The top 4 can also be found headlining our Hawkes Bay Wineries Page. We’ll be updating this page with more wineries – let us know your favourite and we’ll be sure to include it!

We’d love to host you here at Colonial Lodge Motel – quality accommodation in Napier. Book online or call direct for best rates.
